Community Meeting with The Advisory Committee
The committee is required to hold periodic community meetings to review issues in the community. The first meeting is presently scheduled for Wednesday, September 20, 2023, beginning at 6:30 PM in the clubhouse. More information will be provided prior to the meeting.
Curling Creek Drive Sewer Smell
This issue should have been discussed at the Union County Board of Commissioners August 14, 2023, meeting. Unfortunately, our advocate on this issue, Stony Rushing (Chairman of the Union County Board of Commissioners) passed away on August 8, 2023. Stony had been in contact with us since our June 19th presentation at the County meeting. He also attended the June 28th Kolter town hall meeting. Steve Worgan represented Heritage South at the August 14th meeting and expressed our condolences to family and friends in attendance.
After the meeting, a representative from the Union County Public Works department mentioned that county public works department has hired an engineering firm to look into the problem and results should conclude within 2 months
Also of note, the mayor of the Town of Indian Trail has signed a resolution supporting our cause.
The committee has received a response from the certified letters sent to Eastwood Homes and Stanley Martin. Based on the responses, we do not anticipate any willingness for either to support us.
Reducing speed limit on Old Evergreen Parkway
Old Evergreen Parkway is presently under the control of the NCDOT. Once the development is completed, Indian Trail will be in control of this road. Unfortunately, this transfer is at least two years in the future. Rough grading and sewer installation is in progress for the last 130 homes. There is an ongoing concern among the residents in Heritage North and Heritage South who presently reside on the completed section of Old Evergreen Parkway about the excessive speeds. The Indian Trail Town Manager has agreed via his August 4 email to provide a contact at NCDOT to express our concerns. More recently, we reached out again to Indian Trail and are awaiting a response.
We are reaching out to the members of the Heritage North HOA board are as we both have a vested interest in reducing the speed limit.
Clubhouse parking lot lighting
In reviewing the overall project plan for Heritage, there appears to be no drawings dedicated to the lighting in the amenity center parking lot. The Town of Indian Trail Planning Director wrote in an email dated August 3, 2023, “Surprisingly, these plans were approved quite a few years ago and it was not a requirement at the time.” Going forward, the design and installation of any lighting in the clubhouse parking lot or the pickleball courts will be the responsibility of the residents of Heritage South.
