This is the first post on our new website. The Advisory Committee wanted to create a place where concerned neighbors could update themselves on the committee's activities. Initially, we will inform you that a post has been created through our email correspondences. Moving forward we encourage you to update yourself on this website as often as you would like and not depend on email reminders.
To navigate the website, just click Home for the Latest Update, or Previous Updates to see older updates. To view the updates in detail just click the update's Title.
As for this current post, because it is our first, it is more detailed and lengthier than you can expect in the future. Here are several updates on activities pertaining to the smell in our neighborhood.
The advisory committee addressed this issue with the Union County Public Works, representatives of the town on Indian Trail, and the village of Wesley Chapel at a meeting in Monroe on June 6th.
Steve Worgan addressed the Union County Board of Commissioners meeting on June 19th, with many Heritage residents in attendance to support our concern.
After the Kolter town hall meeting on June 28th, the committee had several conversations with the chairman of the county commissioners, Stony Rushing.
There was a closed session commissioners meeting on Monday the July17th where the topic was discussed. We have been told to look at the "county manager" comments for updates on the session.
Our issue should be on the agenda for the August 14th commissioners meeting.
We believe the county plans to pressure Kolter by communicating this problem could put them in a negative light, resulting in future project complications.
We have spoken to both the town of Indian Trail and Wesley Chapel and both are considering a resolution supporting us.
A certified letter has been sent to both Eastwood Homes and Stanley Martin requesting support. We plan on following up on the letters the week of the July 27th.
The committee is exploring several more aggressive tactics like, social media posts, google reviews, warning signs in the neighborhood and television exposure for this fall.
Our committee's "guidelines" dictate we have periodic neighborhood meetings at the clubhouse to discuss issues in the community. We will take minutes and communicate issues to Kolter. Please be on the lookout for posts regarding our first meeting.
The advisory committee is looking for a 5th member. Though not required, administrative expertise is a plus. Please let us know if you are interested. Well that's it for this post. Thanks!
